Doug Diaries pt 1
As you may know, I have been on a sourdough journey for a little over a year now. I went through some ups and downs and am finally ready to share. To my surprise, I found that you love hearing about my sourdough adventures so I decided to write about them. This will be the first blog of many that are all about my sourdough. I’ll start with: How it all Started
It was January of 2025 when our family sat down to watch “ The Lunatic Farmer” in this movie, Joel Salatan mentioned the rise in people making sourdough starters during the lockdowns in 2020. This was the only nudge I needed. I am the crunchiest homemaker in my home and I was thinking why dont I have a starter already.
The very next day, I made a starter. I fed it for about two weeks before I could see any activity, and even caved and gave it a name, Doug. From then on, I watched so many videos and read so many recipes. I started baking and failed many times, I even killed my starter and had to start over, but that's a story for another time. Eventually, after many months of trying, I started making good bread. It only got better from there with a few silly mistake stories in between.
I hope you enjoyed my little teaser of this new series coming to the FMF platform.
Welcome to “The Doug Diaries.”
